The development of the company was always supported by intensive research and development work. Through targeted knowledge transfer, new markets could be continually opened up and new, innovative products developed.
As the electric motor was being developed for cars, it became clear to us that our experience and skills in high-current technology for the quick charging of forklift batteries was also transferable into this field and could represent a significant competitive edge.
For the development of the combo systems CCS1 and CCS2, SUMI-REMA EV Solutions GmbH was founded in 2012. The joint venture is a merger between REMA, Sumitomo Electric Industrie and Sumitomo Wiring Systems, one of the largest automotive suppliers worldwide. After the successful completion of the development work, the series production of the developed products is now jointly carried out by the companies involved. REMA concentrates particularly on the infrastructure components.
Another example of the successful work of our engineers is still the unrivaled “Molded REMA Connector” (MRC). With these patented connectors the cable insulation is connected almost inextricably with the connector housing, resulting in a gas- and watertight plug-cable-connection. This results in a significantly higher strength and durability, especially in combination with the REMAFlex lines (also developed by REMA), which have a special insulating sheath.
Through all the concentrated development and research activities in Rheinbach, we ensure that the needs and requirements of all market partners across the board are taken into account. This means that our international locations and all customers worldwide benefit from synergies and a high level of knowledge transfer.
